History of the Camps

Founded in 1971 by NFL Hall of Famer Benny Friedman, the Midwest Football Camp is regarded as the longest-running instructional program for special teams players in the country. More than 4,200 athletes have become better kickers, punters, centers and holders through the individualized training. In the past ten years, athletes from 21 states have participated in the camps.

Participants learn the fundamentals of their position, master skills, and develop an awareness of strategy in all phases of special teams play.

Jan (55K)Demonstrations, step-by-step explanations and one-on-one instruction present techniques that are relevant to each individual's ability. Athletes are evaluated and then shown how to adjust and modify their personal styles to attain optimum results and achieve more consistency.

The outstanding coach-to-athlete ratio of 7:1 promotes learning and provides maximum individual attention. The instructors are all veterans at the camps and are well-versed in our teaching philosophy and methods. The success of the program is evident in the number of participants who have gone on to earn all-state honors or excel in college. Numerous camp alumni dot the lineups of major and small colleges today.
